Stardust Restaurant is a well-established Cantonese restaurant in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, serving the community for more than 20 years. Licensed for over 100 seats, we are one of the largest and longest-operating Chinese restaurants in the area, offering Cantonese style dishes for dine-in, takeout and delivery, seven days a week, including dim sum service on weekends. Job Description
Stardust Restaurant is seeking a Chef specializing in Cantonese cuisine to lead our kitchen team. The Chef supervises kitchen staff, holds overall responsibility for kitchen operations during assigned shifts, and independently prepares and executes traditional Cantonese dishes.
Job Duties
- Plan, prepare and cook dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Provide guidance on food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation to ensure consistency.
- Prepare and execute traditional Cantonese dishes, applying techniques such as wok cooking, steaming, roasting and sauce preparation.
- Maintain consistency in flavour, portion control and presentation.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to support daily operations.
- Maintain overall responsibility for kitchen operations during assigned shifts.
- Support inventory monitoring to ensure adequate ingredients for daily kitchen operations.
- Assist in menu planning and refinement to maintain consistency and quality standards.
Employment Requirements
- Completion of secondary school.
- Cook’s trade certification, or equivalent credentials, training and experience are
- Several years of experience in commercial food preparation, including demonstrated ability to independently prepare and execute Cantonese cuisine.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen staff.
- Ability to independently manage assigned service periods and maintain consistency during peak hours.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining consistent quality.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays as required by restaurant operations, including weekend dim sum service.

Fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment; standing for extended periods; work under time pressure during peak service.
