Job duties:
-Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
-Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
-Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
-Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
-Knowledge of Daycare Services Act
-Knowledge of licensing regulations
-Establish guidelines for behaviour
-Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
-Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
-Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
-Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
-Order supplies and equipment
-Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
-Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
Requirements:
-Education: A bachelor's degree or college diploma in early childhood education is required.
-Experience: Experience an asset
-Valid ECE license is required
-Satisfactory criminal record check is required
-Able to work independently.
-Well developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
-Valid First Aid certificate
Salary:
$17.50 to $18.00 hourly, 40 Hours per week Between 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, 8 hour(s) per day with a 1hour lunch break (Unpaid) Monday-Friday
Benefits: After being employed for 12 months, your salary will increase $0.50 every 6months.
An annual vacation schedule will be during the center breaks;
1day during the Easter break,
1day during summer break and the Christmas break(1.5weeks).
Your 4% vacation pay will be paid on the last working day of each year.
Your first Aid certificate will be paid on proof of completion
