Location of Work: Nanaimo, British Columbia

Start Date: November 1, 2021

Employer: Mart Gross

Wage: $20.00/hour

Vacation: 4% of gross salary or 10 paid vacation days

Nature of employment: Permanent, full-time

Hours per week: 40

Job Description: The caregiver will provide care and companionship for a 101-year-old senior with dementia. The successful candidate will administer bedside and personal care such as aid in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and changing clothes. Other responsibilities include planning and preparing meals and assisting in feeding. The candidate will also be required to perform routine health-related duties such as measuring body temperature and respiration, assisting in administration of predetermined medications, collecting specimens, and keeping records as instructed by the family physician. The candidate will be responsible for routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes, making beds, vacuuming, and keeping house clean and sanitary.

Position Requirements: Completion of secondary school and minimum of two years’ work experience as a live-in caregiver of an elderly person in Canada or elsewhere is required. Must be able to communicate in English. Must be willing to provide live-in care. The ideal candidate will be willing to work a flexible schedule. Will be required to variously work weekdays and weekends, and may work on statutory holidays, if agreed.
